Where and When are Games Played?

Games are played on Saturday mornings into midday. All CLCF Development League games are played at the John Chafee Sports and Recreation Complex on Hope Road in Cranston, known locally as "Briggs" (see Our Facilities).

What kind of time commitment is necessary? When are practices and games?

The commitment in time will depend on the level and season you are playing. In clinic there are Saturday morning sessions which are generally one hour each. In U8 and above, most coaches will start with two practices per week in the Fall and scale back to one. In the Spring there is usually one practice per week. Practices take place on week nights and are determined by our coaches' availability.

In all age groups and seasons, games are played Saturdays between 9AM and 2PM.

When does the Season and Clinic Start?

Generally speaking our Fall Season begins on or about the Saturday after Labor Day and continues through October. The Spring season starts in early April and continues through mid-June.

I registered but have not heard anything yet?

Players in the Fall development program will be contacted by their coach approximately 2 weeks before the season starts. Players in the clinic program will receive notice of their assigned Saturday morning slots approximately 10 days prior to their start. If you've registered, and do not hear from one of our volunteers by the respective time, please send an email to askus@clcfsoccer.net. Please include the player's name, date of birth and a phone number or email address you can be contacted at.

I sent a check but it hasn't been cleared yet?

We hold the checks until the refund deadline had passed to ease the processing any requested refunds.

When will practices start? when and where are they held and how often?

Development (aka Rec) practices occur on weeknight(s) and at a location chosen by your child's coach. Generally there will be one or two practices a week depending on the coach and team schedule in the fall session, and one practice a week in the spring session.

The clinic program is more instruction oriented, there are no additional practice sessions. Players are broken into groups and assigned Saturday morning times. All sessions occur on Saturdays.

I received an email from GotSoccer.com, what is this about?

If you provided us with a valid email address you will have received an email from GotSoccer. GotSoccer is the new online system for the state soccer association, Soccer Rhode Island (SRI). SRI is the governing body for CLCF Soccer. Our liability insurance, and authorization for running the league is granted through SRI and we are required to submit information online through GotSoccer to SRI. This information is held confidential, and in the near future you will be able to use GotSoccer for quick and easy registration to our in-house league, Select Soccer tryouts and participation, online payments, club events and soccer tournaments.

GotSoccer asks for a birth certificate and picture of my child, is this necessary?

No, this and other information will be used for our Select/Competitive program where we are required to obtain player passes and proof of age. The only information necessary is default directory information that we have uploaded to the system.

I'd like my son/daughter to play on a team with another player or for a particular coach...

Unfortunately we can only accomodate requests of this nature to insure siblings in the same age group are on the same team, or for players associated with the sponsor of that particular team. Please note that a child of a team coach is automatically assigned to that team within our age group requirements.

Can my child play in a higher age group?

No, players may not play in a higher or lower age group than their birth date allows. Players found falsifying their birth date to play in a different division are subject to dismissal from CLCF programs.
